Questions we are asked most

We do not have funding. Is it still worth contacting you?

Yes — that is the normal starting point, and the best one. Identifying the right program is part of what we do, and the scoping work is what makes an application fundable. Communities that arrive with a program already chosen have sometimes chosen the wrong one.

Do you charge for an initial conversation?

No. The first conversation establishes whether there is a fundable project and whether we are the right partner for it. If the answer to either is no, we will say so.

Can you guarantee our application will be funded?

No, and be cautious of anyone who says otherwise. Competitive programs decline good applications. What we commit to is that the project is eligible, the submission is complete and on time, and the budget will survive scrutiny.

How far ahead do we need to start?

Further than most people expect. Assessment and contracting on federal and provincial programs generally takes months, so work planned for a spring field season usually needs its application submitted the previous autumn. If an intake has already closed for the season you need, we will tell you rather than submit into the next cycle and call it progress.

Do you only work with Indigenous communities?

No. That is where our record is deepest and where most of our work sits, but we also work with non-profits, regional associations, employment agencies and industry partners.

We just want to buy safety certifications.

Then we are probably not who you need. Dominion designs and delivers funded training projects; we do not run an online certification store. Call and we will point you at one — including the one our own principals operate, named on the About page.

We are assessing you as a delivery partner. What can you provide?

Ask for whatever your process requires: instructor credentials, the track record, signed letters of reference from past community partners, insurance and safety documentation, or a conversation with a community our principals have delivered for.
